Summer is upon us and as we all know, it is predicted to be a dry one. Regular monitoring of the farm is important so you can continuously evaluate the situation and make the best decisions.
Keeping animal health up is a priority. It's important to be aware of worms at this time of year - restricted pasture growth means it is easier for stock to pick up parasites.
Don't forget, your calves are your future income. Don't let all your effort into calf rearing go backwards because of a drought. Keep them well-nourished with one of our hay/meal feeders.
Have you got a summer management plan in place? Dairy NZ has some useful information on their website regarding summer management, which is worth a read.
